OEM Yamaha formula for V8 beasts—one quart covers most F300-F350 or VMAX SHO lower units.
Why high-HP Yamaha owners run HD exclusively
- Extreme pressure fortified – handles V8 gear crush loads at WOT without shearing
- Rust & corrosion inhibitors – shields internals from saltwater bite, even after 100+ hours
- Superior heat dissipation – keeps gearcase temps 15–20 °F cooler under sustained high RPM
- GL-5 rated SAE 80W-90 – meets or exceeds API specs for hypoid gears
- Warranty-safe – Yamaha's official lube; no questions on coverage
Compatibility
| Model Line | HP Range |

| V6 VMAX SHO | 200–250 |

Not for other Yamaha outboards—use standard Yamalube Gearcase Lube (ACC-GEARL-UB-QT) instead.

FAQs
Can I use this in my standard F150 or F200? No—stick to regular Yamalube Gearcase Lube. HD is overkill and could affect shift feel in lower-HP gearcases.
Mixing with standard gear lube? Avoid it—both are GL-5, but HD's additives are tuned for V8 pressures. Full drain recommended.
Electric-shift or pre-2000 models? Not compatible—use Type C or SAE 90 hypoid only. Check your manual.
