Core Return Instructions
OBR provides a prepaid core return label with every product that requires a core deposit, for the contiguous United States (excluding Alaska and Hawaii). The label is included with your packing list.
How to Return Your Core
- Place your core in the original box.
- Place the core return label on the outside of the box.
- Call UPS at 1-800-742-5877 to schedule a pickup, or give it to your regular delivery driver. A service charge may apply if your location isn't a regular UPS delivery point.
- Extra-heavy powerheads that must ship by freight line will come with a bill of lading for the return. Call the number on the bill of lading to arrange pickup.
Core Deposit Refunds
When your core is received, OBR will evaluate its value based on condition. If any part of the core isn't usable, your refund will be adjusted to reflect the change in value.
- Gearcases — Housing: 60% of value. Vertical driveshaft: 20% of value. Propshaft: 20% of value.
- Powerheads — Block: 60% of value. Internal components: 40% of value.
A refund check will be mailed to the address on your invoice unless otherwise notified in writing. A core with no usable value may be returned for a $50–$200 shipping charge, depending on weight.
Core Return Deadline
If you paid a core deposit, the core must be returned within 30 days of delivery to qualify for a refund. Late returns may be rejected or receive a reduced refund at OBR's discretion.
