Johnson Evinrude 88-140HP V4 Small lower unit Years 1978-1998

These are new and remanufactured outboard lower units (gearcases). Remanufactured units are rebuilt with all new bearings, seals, gears, and other components, often with updated parts, for reliability that meets or exceeds original OEM standards. Compatible with Johnson and Evinrude V4 engines in the 88-140 HP range from 1978 to 1998, specifically the small housing version.

Key Features and Specs:

• Housing Type: Small V4 gearcase. Propeller shaft hub diameter approximately 3-5/8" to 3-3/4" with 13 splines. (Some V4 models use a large housing with a 4-5/8" to 4-3/4" hub and 15 splines. Send your serial/model number to confirm small housing fitment.)
• Warranty: Every unit includes a 2-year warranty. Choose "3-Year Warranty" above to add a third year. There is no core return for this gearcase.
• Top Driveshaft: Not included unless you add one above.
  • 1978-1991: a replacement top driveshaft is required. Choose the 20" or 25" "1991 & earlier" shaft. Reuse your existing shift rod.
  • 1992-1998: the upper shaft snaps in, so you can reuse yours and your shift rod, or add a new "1992 & later" shaft and skip removing the old one.
• Water Pump: Included (not pre-installed). Install it during setup, add gear oil, and the unit is ready for service.
• Shipping: Free shipping. Normally ships directly from the manufacturer.
